Where people live in Harmony with Nature, Embrace Tradition and Prioritize Sustainable Way of Living.
Welcome 🙏
Khasrang is a small village nestled in the beautiful hills of western Nepal. Life here revolves around the rhythm of the seasons and the land. We are a community of farmers, deeply connected to our traditions and the natural world.
Growing Goodness the Old-Fashioned Way
For generations, our ancestors have cultivated this land, passing down their wisdom from father to son, mother to daughter. We grow a variety of crops, including rice, corn, lentils, sesame, millet, and wheat. Our fields also burst with vibrant vegetables like tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, okra, and brinjal.
We still cherish the traditional ways – using oxen and wooden ploughs to till the soil, and relying on the “Parma” system where we help each other with farm work. This not only strengthens our community bonds but also ensures sustainable and eco-friendly practices. Our oxen graze freely, providing us with manure to fertilize our fields.

Embracing the New While Honoring the Past
While we hold onto our ancestral wisdom, we are also embracing new techniques. We’re learning about organic farming methods, using high-yielding seeds, and protecting our crops from the elements with innovative methods like tunnel farming.

More Than Just Crops
Our lives extend beyond the fields. Animal husbandry plays a crucial role in our livelihoods. We raise goats, which roam freely in the surrounding forests, feeding on wild plants and herbs. This makes for the tastiest goat meat! We also keep a few cows and buffaloes, although their numbers have dwindled in recent years as many young people have migrated to cities.

A Sweet Future
Exciting changes are happening in Khasrang! We are seeing a growing interest in horticulture, especially avocado farming. Some of our neighbors are already exporting their organic avocados to Kathmandu, and many more are joining the trend.
Apiculture (beekeeping) is also gaining popularity. The honey produced by our bees is pure and delicious, and we are confident that it will become a valuable source of income for our community.
